Introduction: Sometimes I have settled for crumbs but it was because I liked them. The crumbs of fried chicken are my favorite. But when it comes to the things of God, I have eaten some crumbs but I wasn’t satisfied, so I always looked for and found the best that God had to offer.
Life can deal us a bad hand and we may think the best is for someone else God can use them and not me. Well, that’s not true God will use anyone who is willing to believe.
But there has always been those that just sit back sick, lost, down and depressed. Whatever life deals them that is the way it has to be.
But I am never going to settle for a little when I know Jesus said in John 10:10…I came that you may have life and have it more abundant.
I’m not just your average type of guy. I know who I am. I know my Father is the almighty God. I do not have to settle for crumbs and I refuse to eat someone’s leftovers.
There was a woman of Canaan and she came to Jesus and told him my daughter is possessed with a devil I need you.
Listen to how she admitted eating crumbs and taking the leftovers of the children of God, but this time she was desperate. It wasn’t about her, it was about her child and this may be her only chance to get any type of help. Listen to the scripture.
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying; Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
Listen to what Jesus said about her faith.
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
You see it doesn’t matter who you are— when you have faith it moves the Lord to do the unexpected.
The disciples said “send her away for she crieth for us. What they were saying she isn’t one of us she doesn’t deserve what we do.
But Jesus marveled at her faith and reached into the future>> into the dispensation of the Gentiles and pulled out a miracle for her.
I’m telling you right now there is a miracle waiting for someone that will believe.
For someone who is tired of eating crumbs
Someone that can reach past their pride and humble themselves as this woman did.
Someone who will cause Jesus to marvel at your faith.
Aren’t you tired of always coming to church and saying one of these days I am going to get my healing!
When the Lord has already declared that “By His Stripes, we are healed!” Isa 53:5
Matt 8:8.. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
Matt 8:10…When Jesus heard it, he marveled and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
I believe that Jesus gets excited when someone steps out by faith and challenges Him to healing. Not that they deserve it but they believe him for it.
The centurion humbled himself and said “I am not worthy that you come to my house just say the word”
But now since the Word has already been declared that by his stripes we are healed we ought to expect it to happen!
I had a friend that had a bad car accident in the 60’s and he was paralyzed from his waist down and in a wheelchair. Mind you he wasn’t a Christian. He didn’t serve God he was like the woman from Canaan he wanted something.
The Doctors said, “Rayburn you will never walk.” He had a body cast down to his waist and he began to cut at it until he could get into that wheelchair.
Then he continued until he got on crutches and the doctor still said he couldn’t walk then on his last visit to the doctor with the same grim report “ you will never walk.”
Rayburn jumped off the table and walked out of the doctor’s office; this is what he told me years ago.
He was still walking until the day he died, He worked hard and lived his life.
I don’t know if he asks God for help>> I do know he didn’t live for God any until he got older… but determination made him walk he wouldn’t settle for Crumbs and neither will we!
People that don’t know the Lord have seen miracles happen in their life why can’t we? One reason we don’t we have little or no determination. We settle for crumbs.
Jesus wants us to have this: Luke 12:32 “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
Do you think there is sickness in heaven? There isn’t. Do you think there is poverty in heaven and struggling to get by? There isn’t.
Listen to this scripture: 3 John 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. This is God’s will!
You see it is Gods will to heal you and to bless you. But are we willing to give of ourselves and all that we have to receive what he has for us.
Luke 5:12-13 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
You see it is God’s will to heal you and to bless you!
Multitudes came to him and healed them.
Ps 107:20….He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Matt 4:24… And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. They were desperate and determined to get to Jesus.
Matt 12:15…But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
Matt 15:30….And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them :
Matt 19:2 and great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
Matt 21:14….And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
In his own country, he only did a few miracles but faith still moved him to heal a few:
Mark 6:5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folks, and healed them.
Mark 6:13.. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
Luke 4:40-41…Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
Luke 6:19-23 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed, be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
Luke 9:11…And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
Whosoever believed on him he healed them. They were willing to go where he was and stay as long as it took to get what they came for.
We come hoping the service won’t last too long and break for the door as soon as the church is dismissed.
1. We came sick and in need and left the same way time and time again.
2. We came with no expectation and we left with no expectation.
3. We think will I didn’t feel anything tonight so I guess it wasn’t my time.
Let me say this as nice as I can>> you came whining and you left sick.
You came not expecting anything but three songs and a message and that is all you got.
You are not desperate for Jesus…you to have gotten use to being sick and hurting and you pop your pills and get you two-hour relief from a bottle that some man sold to you that didn’t know if it would work or not but you took it anyway
The word of God says BY HIS STRIPES YOU ARE HEALED!! But we won’t take that verse and get it into our system.
I suggest you pop a couple of doses of Psalms 107: 20 into your body it says he sent his word and healed them and saved them from their destruction.
Maybe we need to try some: Ex 15: 26 and call him in the morning:
God told Israel, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
Maybe instead of consulting the doctor, we might check this out Ps 91:9-10…Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
When was the last time he was our habitation? When was the last time you consulted God about your situation;
People will demand the doctor to give them something for pain but we can’t believe God?
We are settling for the crumbs when God wants to give us the kingdom.
