Do you know who holds the NFL record for rushing yards in a career? He played for the Dallas Cowboys and carried the ball for 14 seasons in the NFL. Emmitt Smith rushed for 18, 355 yards. You know how he did it? He did it 4.3 yards at a time. Yep, he ran 4.3 yards and was tackled. Over and over again. He did it by getting up and going again.

That’s what I want to encourage all of you to do in life. Just keep getting up and going again. You will have hard days when you get tackled by circumstances. You will have days you stumble and fall and drop the ball. But…just get up and go again.

How many times have we all quit something because we got discouraged? Or somebody criticized us? Or we messed up? Or we were afraid?

TEXT: Gal. 6:9 tells us “Do not be weary in well doing for in due season you will reap if you do not quit.”

You see, the Bible teaches us that if don’t quit, we won’t fail.

Consider these facts:

*During its first year, Coca-Cola only sold 400 bottles of coke. Now they are everywhere all over the earth. You could find Coke in some places in the World you couldn’t find water.

*NBA basketballer Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.

He didn’t quit. He kept trying and is now considered the greatest player in the history of basketball.

Listen to what Michael Jordan said one time: “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” ~ Michael Jordan

*Babe Ruth held the record for the most strikeouts.  He went on to also hold the record for the most home runs. Why? Because he kept swinging.

In the life of most any leader, you can think of, there is usually an occasion when it looked like it was over and they were greatly tempted to give up.

-Moses fled from Egypt thinking his life was over, but really it had just begun. He was willing to try again and God sent him back to deliver His people from Pharoah.

-David was not willing to quit even in the face of a giant named Goliath and look what happened.

-Elijah once prayed to die. But after God refreshed him, he got up and went and found his successor and anointed another king.

-Peter thought it was over after he denied Christ. But he was willing to get up and go again and God used him to preach the first sermon at Pentecost.

-Jesus did not stop till he said: “It is finished!”

You can keep getting up and going again too!

Did you know that there was a man who kept trying when others would have quit. Had he given up, our nation would be a much different place today.

Luke 1:37 – For nothing will be impossible with God!

The last thing I’ll tell you is this- “Just be like a postage stamp. Stick in there till you get to where you are going.”

You need strength to bring forth!
2Ki 19:3 These are difficult and disgraceful times. Our nation is like a woman too weak to give birth when it’s time for her baby to be born.
2Ki 19:4 Please pray for those of us who are left alive. The king of Assyria sent his army commander to insult the living God. Perhaps the LORD heard what he said and will do something if you will pray.

  1. Every weakness that is killing my progress, I terminate you today!

    2. In any area of my life that I have been a coward – deliver me! set me free!

    3. Every family trait and curse that HAS the POWER to pull me down when greatness comes – deliver me NOW!

    4. The power to bring forth, The power to excel, the power to give birth to the dreams you have given me – give me now!

You need divine strength to be great!
1Ch 29:11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.
1Ch 29:12 Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand, it is to make great and to give strength to all.

  1. The courage and strength in God and of God to do great things – give me now!

    6. The courage and strength in God that brings honor, favor, and riches – give me now

    7. “In your hand are power and might” – give me strength! give me courage!

Goliath was stronger by human eyes than David but David was more courageous in God than the two of them!
1Sa 17:34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep sheep for his father. And when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb from the flock,
1Sa 17:35 I went after him and struck him and delivered it out of his mouth. And if he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and struck him and killed him.
1Sa 17:36 Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.”
1Sa 17:37 And David said, “The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!”

  1. Concerning my God-given dreams for the year and beyond, I refuse to be intimidated!

    9. Every Goliath – physical and spiritual, you will bow in my life!

    10. Every power that is planning to destroy my plans, my dreams will outlive you!

    11. In every area where I have been oppressed -Lord, send my David!

Psa_20:6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

  1. Lord! with the “saving strength of your right”, deliver me permanently from Evil!

1Sa 17:32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him. Your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
1Sa 17:50 And David was stronger than the Philistine with a sling and with a stone. And he struck the Philistine and killed him. But no sword was in the hand of David.
1Sa 17:51 And David ran and stood on the Philistine, and took out his sword and drew it out of its sheath, and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, and fled.
David ran towards Goliath! Others ran backward! Those challenges won’t fix itself alone.

  1. From now, I refuse to live in denial!

    14. After now, I refuse to hide my head in shame!

    15. Lord! make me stronger than my enemies!

    16. Daddy, make me stronger than pain and setbacks!

    17. Every “champion” in my life celebrating in advance – put them to shame!

    18. In any area that my past stupid decisions has turned me to a “chicken”, Have mercy on me and make me an EAGLE!

Exo_13:3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
Exo 13:14 And when in time to come  your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you shall say to him, ‘By a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

Weak people are emotionally and strategically blind

  1. I receive the strength to win!

    20. Lord! this year – keep me strong and focused until my testimonies come!

    21. I declare, concerning you ( insert name) – BE BOLD, THIS IS YOUR TIME FOR TESTIMONIES!

Acquiring strength and choosing to be courageous is a choice!

Jos 14:11 I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming.
Jos 14:12 So now give me this hill country of which the LORD spoke on that day, for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the LORD said.”
Irrespective of your age, sex, race or class – receive power to overtake and recover all in Jesus name!

    23. When fear is destroying “children”, I will be a MAN!

    24. Make me bolder than my status! Make me bolder than my title!

1Sa 30:8 And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And He answered him, Go! For you shall surely overtake and will without fail to recover all.

  1. In the name of Jesus, my strength will not fail!!

    26. I decree, with your courage and strength, I will pursue, overtake and UNFAILINGLY recover ALL!

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

Mark 5:25-34

25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

28 For she said If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace and be whole of thy plague.

TEXT: Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

INTRODUCTION: This is a powerful verse given to Isaiah during a time of trouble for the nation of Israel. I want to tell you that the same promises are ours today to through our New Covenant. There are five things that you don’t have to be that we see in this verse and let’s anchor these things in our New Covenant relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

  1. You Don’t Have to Be Afraid

Why? Because you are not alone.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

-Over 80+ times in the Bible, the Lord tells us not to be afraid.

-Fear is one of the chief weapons of the enemy and causes us torment.

-I love what I heard one minister say about the word FEAR: False Evidence Appearing Real

-Faith in God’s presence with us is the antidote to the fear the enemy releases against us.

-A key is remembering what John wrote in his first epistle ( 1 John 4:8) that perfect love casts away all fear. Knowing God loves you helps you to stay grounded that He is with you.

-Jesus says that he will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

  1. You Don’t Have to Be Dismayed

Why? Because THIS God is YOUR God

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Here is what the Free Online Dictionary gives as the definition of dismay. This will help us more fully understand what it looks like when it shows up:

tr.v. dis·mayeddis·may·ingdis·mays

  1. To destroy the courage or resolution of by exciting dread or apprehension.
  2. To cause to lose enthusiasm; disillusion: was dismayed to learn that her favorite dancer used drugs.
  3. To upset or alarm. n. A sudden or complete loss of courage in the face of trouble or danger.

-We can see that dismay is certain a bedfellow of fear.

-Your courage is targeted, so there is great discouragement that comes.

-Your inspiration and excitement for life is drained.

-You find yourself living life in alarm mode, so your peace is targeted and upset.

-We now have living within us a resident encourager (comforter) called the Holy Spirit.

  1. You Don’t Have to Be Weak

Why? Because YOUR all-powerful God said He would strengthen you.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

-Remember the strength you have in Christ when you are overcome with tiredness and depletion. You have a source of unending strength in your position in Christ. This is how God strengthens us in our New Covenant. We have within us the same Spirit that filled and energized Jesus and who raised him from the door. We must submit our self-empowered ways of dealing with life and allow the Holy Spirit to release through us divine resources.

-Remember 2 Peter 1: 3 says we have already been given all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him. It is in knowing him and who he is in us that opens the way for his supply to manifest in our lives.

  1. You Don’t Have to Be Helpless

Why? Because YOUR all powerful and ever present God said He would help you.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

-As I just shared in the last point, Jesus has taught us that the Holy Spirit is now our helper. He lives in us. He gives us what we need.

-The very One who spoke the universe into existence avails Himself to your need. He invites you into His throne room and receives the grace and mercy you need in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Now that’s some help right there!

-Did I mention all the accounts and times when God also sent Angels to help His people? They strengthened Jesus. They delivered Peter from prison. They appeared to the Shepherds to give them some powerful news. They appeared at the tomb to encourage the women. And we are told they help us at times without us even knowing it. Wow, now that’s some help.

  1. You Don’t Have to Be Downfallen

Why? Because YOUR all powerful and ever present God said He would hold you up with His righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

-The righteous will never be moved. We have been made righteous by the Lord Jesus Christ’s redemptive work. It is our gift. It is now our birthright. We are seated with him at Father’s right hand.

-The right hand is the hand of power and authority.

-There is the old television commercial of the dear lady who has fallen and she is saying, “Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” The child of God never has to say that. You may stumble momentarily and began to fall down but your Father is there to uphold you by His right hand. The sense is what Jude tells us that He is able to keep us from falling.

-Jesus has been raised and continues to be raised and we are in him, so we have a solid foundation that our salvation rests upon. What an awesome God we serve and that we can call our Daddy God!

Conclusion: The next time you are feeling the pinch of circumstances or the hot breath of the Devil breathing down your neck, remember this verse out of the ancient book of Isaiah and that we even have better promises resting on a better covenant.
